Past Projects

  • Operation of the Visitor Information Centre since 1983.
  • Public Announcement System now services visitors in the downtown during the peak summer months and seasonal special events.
  • Establishment of what is now known as Ballast Grounds Park.
  • Host partner with a wide range of community special events; Canada Day, Tall Ships, Naval Gun Run, trade shows, local musical showcases.
  • Offered workshops and seminars and formed committees on issues regarding safety, security, vandalism, bylaws, tax concerns, policing, and economic conditions.
  • Constructed the local Farmer’s Market and the Pedestrian Walkway to Marine Atlantic.
  • Publish the annual Northside Visitors Guide, the Downtown Newsletter, and the “Discover the Heart of 305” brochure.
  • Held special fundraising campaigns with the businesses to acquire pole banners and Christmas lighting.
  • Formed a committee exploring culture and development projects to generate economic growth within the community.
  • Construction of a series of Interpretive Kiosks that link an 8km-walking tour from Marine Atlantic to the Ballast Grounds.
  • Participated in downtown litter pick up day (August 2014).
